Got busted from the WSOP $2k buy-in Event #11 on the third level.  Made two bad calls early on that cost me half my chips.  Then I got the rest of my chips in with 88 on a board of 3-3-5-6 and got called by 99 and blanked the river.  Just couldn’t get anything going from the start.  It was a bittersweet occurance that I got KO’ed from the tourney so early because I decided to go back to my room and play some online poker, which ended up to be a pretty profitable decision.

It started with the $15k Super Turbo where I was picking up a lot of hands early and knocked out a good amount of players but lost a flip for my nice stack which would’ve gave me good contention to win the tourney.  After playing a few failed satellites to get into the $1k buy-in super satellite to the WSOP ME, I just decided that to buy-in direct anyway since I felt like I was running good.  Another top-notch decision as I was a huge chipleader throughout the whole tournament and an overwhelming chipleader at the final table.  This allowed me to basically coast into winning another WSOP ME $12k package, with the exception of one hand.  I have 30BB’s on the button and pick up KK, everyone folds, and the SB is short-stack and BB (a very notable and good player) had 30BB’s as well.  I open my standard 2.5x, SB folds, and BB shoves for his whole 30BB stack!  Being for my whole stack and on the money bubble, even though I had KK in a steal/re-steal situation, it was a very scary call because my opponent could come from behind with anything to make me the bubble boy for a $12k package.  There’s no way I could fold this and end up making the call and he shows AJ.  Luckily I flop my set and knock him out on the bubble.  It was ironic that a few hands earlier it was the same situation but he steal raised from the CO and I had AJo on the BB but made the laydown preflop.  I think it was a huge mistake on his part to shove his stack in there as there were one or two other players with shorter stacks that he could’ve waited to bust out and win a seat.  This win will be my fifth $12k package to the WSOP ME and already have four $2k packages for a total of $68k in prizes, which blows my goal of raising $56k for the WSOP.  I’m confident that I am the player who has won the most WSOP seats on FullTilt this year, maybe they’ll give me a sweet prize for that.  Of course, I’m still gonna try and win more before the satellites end, easy $12k imo ;)   To top off the night, I notched a “W” in the $25k rebuy for $6500.  Again, I was chipleader for most of the late stages of the tournament and at the final table.  I used my chips well to steal blinds and create an aggressive image to KO a lot of the final table players.  My only downfall came when it became 3-handed and I lost almost all my chips losing AK vs A9 which left me with just under 10BB’s.  Doubled up once and then got in a 3-way all-in with my KK going up against AJ and 88 for a biiiiiig hold, making me the overwhelming chip-leader of 5-1 over my opponents.  Bullied my opponent heads-up for the outright win.  Over $18k in total winnings for the day, not too bad considering busting from the $2k WSOP event.

Tomorrow I’ll be playing the $2500 buy-in WSOP Event #13, so hopefully I can get past the 3rd level this time.  I’m getting so much support from people back home it’s making me feel like I’m un-stoppable.  All I need is a WSOP bracelet and I’ll feel like I’ve proved my skills in this crazy game and make a name for myself.

Well I’ve been living in Vegas for about five days now, I’m just about settled in.  I’m still not used to the fact that I live in a hotel room but it is becoming more of a norm as the days go by.  It’s nice to come back to my room everyday and see that my bed has been made, trash has been takin out, all towels and toiletries have been replaced, and room has a fresh scent.  Luckily, they did equip my room with a fridge so I keep cold-cut sandwiches in there to keep me from eating unhealthy casino food all day.  One drawback is that my gym membership at the hotel for one month cost me a whopping $240, makes me want to workout everyday!  Laundry may be a nuisance as well, either pay an unreasonable amount for housekeeping to do it for me or, spend a day at the laundry mat.  I’m sure everything will just fall into place as time goes by.

Today was the first free day I had since I arrived and decided to spend it by playing online for the first time in a week.  It was definately a good choice as I did win myself another $12k prize package to the WSOP Main Event.  I won it playing the daily $216 buy-in Shootout satellite, which is how I have won the other three prize packages as well.  There’s no doubt in my mind that I’ve won more seats to the WSOP ME than anyone else on FullTilt.  Four $12k prize packages and four $2k prize packages gives me a total of $56k in WSOP prizes.  This completes my goal of raising enough money to buy-in to all the no limit hold-em events at the WSOP.  The likelihood of me playing in all 21 events is very slim as a lot of the events overlap depending on my performance but it is nice to know that if I wanted to I could without any financial burden.  I will keep playing these shootout satellites as much as I can for several reasons, 1)  I’m good at them, 2) competition is fairly easy, and 3) the $12k is just as good as real money as I can convert it from tournament credits to real cash for a small fee.  I also made the final table of the $33k rebuy but got KO’ed in 9th for a small cash.  The games online should be a lot easier since a lot of the pros are busy playing the WSOP, so I hope I can play as much online as I can.

If you have been following my twitter updates you should know that I didn’t run all that deep in my first WSOP event, the $1k “Stimulus” Event.  My overall play in the event was my A-game.  I hardly made any marginal mistakes and chipped up very nicely.  I am also very content the way I played the hand that I got KO’ed with as I got my chips in as a slight favorite but just couldn’t hold.  My approach to this turbo-like tournament was to gamble in spots I thought I had an edge in and play for the win, I feel that is how I played it and left it to the luck factor to lead me the rest of the way.

Tomorrow at noon, I’ll be playing my second WSOP event which is the first of many $1500 buy-in event.  I’ll start with a few more chips than the $1k event so I could steady my play a little bit more.  Hopefully I could play the same as my first event and run better for a deep finish.  Follow me on http://twitter.com/ecafkrod if you’re interested in keeping updated on my progress real-time.  Thanks to everyone wishing me luck!
